Simple story, ignored some warning signs (of septicaemia), ended up in ICU, had twice a septic shock (pre-operative and postoperative). Antibiotics did not work, had to be operated on ("ubi pus, ibi evacuation"). Took over 72 hours to find out that the nasty infection was a simple citrobacter koseri. Upon recovery I became co-founder and CEO of AND BioPharma, a company that develops novel (resistance-free) and strain-specific antibiotics by using the patented DNA self toxicity principle: Organisms stop growing when confronted with their own, fragmented, extracellular DNA. Perhaps this is a natural population density control mechanism. I was happy to survive and come up with solutions to help others...
